Subtext: Subtext? There is no subtext here…it’s all maintext. Yes I do firmly believe that Xena and Gabrielle are lovers and this is reflected in each and every story I write. Violence:No violence…mainly just the sex I’m afraid.

Started out as a challenge I never posted. Based on a line by Gabrielle I always found funny.

Rain

"I have never, nor will I ever dance in the nude in the rain with you anywhere near me!" Gabrielle, Forget Me Not

Xena stood on the porch smiling at the sight of Gabrielle dancing in the rain. The bard's face devoid of the troubles that had befallen them in the past year or so. The smile that used to be so often present returning with a vengeance. And the childlike way in which she was now enjoying the most simple of things that reminded Xena of a young Gabrielle almost long forgotten.

The bard could feel eyes upon her, and stopped dancing briefly to turn and smile at her companion. She had no idea what had come over her, but just the sight of the rain outside had urged her to run out and enjoy it. They had both been through so much recently that it was a pleasant break just to take pleasure in the simple things in life. To forget all the difficulties and concentrate on the here and now, and what they, as well as the earth, had to offer. Xena saw a grin appear on her companion's face and wondered what was running through the other woman's mind. Then she saw hands begin to loosen laces and removed sodden clothing, and her eyes widened. Gabrielle now stood in the nude. The raindrops caressing her skin in a way that made the warrior lick her lips in anticipation.

Gabrielle's grin widened at the reaction she was getting, and crooked a finger, inviting the warrior to come and join her.

Taking a deep breath, Xena pushed off of the post she was leaning against and stepped out into the veil of water.
